Why “CPM Advisors”?
“CPM” is a bit of advertising jargon, and means “cost per thousand impressions”. Many advertisers today do not buy their advertising on the basis of CPM, but instead pay based on a cost-per-click model. The publishers on whose sites these ads appear, however, judge their own performance on the basis of effective CPM; what’s the effective cost per thousand impressions they are getting from showing that particular advert on their site? While there are many other ways to measure performance, some of which we believe are much more relevant in certain situations, CPM is a widely-used term that applies to both advertisers and publishers and quickly gets across what it is that we do.
